In line with expanding scientific research based on the teachings of the Holy Quran, the Science and Quran Research Institute at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has initiated a groundbreaking project to document nature. This project aims to accurately and scientifically present Quranic concepts related to science and nature, fostering a deeper understanding of what the Quran reveals about natural and scientific phenomena. The goal is to showcase these Quranic teachings through meticulously crafted visual documentaries, combining scientific and artistic details to convey the depth of these messages to audiences.
In addition to forming in-house filming teams to capture scenes relevant to research topics, the Institute has decided to collaborate with professional documentary filmmakers. These partnerships aim to broaden the range of subjects, enhance production quality, and leverage diverse expertise in documenting nature and wildlife behavior. These efforts share a common objective: presenting Quranic scientific concepts with precision through documentaries that meet the highest scientific and artistic standards.
Among those collaborating on this project is Mr. Khalil Zarei, a self-taught documentary filmmaker renowned for works such as *The Architect Hunter* and *Jamhur*, which explore wildlife documentation in southern Kerman.
During his three-day visit, Mr. Zarei participated in intensive specialized meetings where diverse topics for documentation and filming were discussed. Ultimately, around ten subjects were approved, each specifically tied to natural phenomena and Quranic scientific concepts, to be examined through a Quranic-scientific lens.
We emphasize that all topics and production processes are proposed and designed by the Institute. This meticulous selection ensures full alignment of the documentaries with Quranic scientific teachings, with careful attention to the scientific details of each phenomenon. The produced documentaries will undergo continuous content and technical supervision by Quranic and Hadith scholars, as well as experimental science experts.
Upon completion of filming and editing, short documentaries on Quranic scientific themes are expected to be uploaded weekly on the Institute’s website starting in early autumn 2025. These films will be publicly accessible, accompanied by precise scientific explanations linked to Quranic concepts. This project marks a significant step toward scientifically documenting Quranic teachings and addressing scientific and technological challenges through inspiration from the Holy Quran. The Institute strives to utilize all scientific and artistic tools to present Quranic scientific concepts tangibly and practically to the public.
